Build A Web Site - Web Hosting And Site Builders Lesson 2
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Nyamache]Joseph Nyamache
Today's lesson on how to build a web site can best be approached from this simple illustration.
My friend John is a computer geek, he is the kind of guy who will assemble and reassemble his computer and would go on with the fine details of explaining the functionality of each and every component on the motherboard; You know the kind of terminologies that would be an antidote to putting the rest of us to sleep within minutes.
Me, I am not a computer geek, I do not even come close enough, in fact if my mouse stop moving or blinking, it will probably take hours trying to fix it. John would have it fixed in minutes.
One more thing about John, he can write, yes he can! You know those kinds of codes and sophisticated programs that make up a web page. If you still don't get it, John is a computer programmer who also doubles as a web site designer and he is very good at it. As a matter of fact he has build three well designed sites.
Oh no, not me! When I started out and made that first move to build my own web site one of my major concern and worry was, how will I ever be able do decipher all those foreign and Greek Html codes! I wish I knew better because that costed me three years, three years just thinking something simple, how to build a web site!
John has never paid any body to design and write those Html codes, why? Because he knows almost everything about that kind of stuff, he can build a web site from scratches and have it set up and running within days. But poor me, I wont tell the difference or sequence of order of where to place a head tag or the title tag and so on and so forth.
But has that kept me from building my own web site? No, I know there are other ways to build a web site; Why not use one of those what you see is what you get (WHSIWYG) editing software.
By now, I think you must be feeling sorry for me (John seems to be on top of everything), but that's okay. As far as the "tech world" is concerned my friend John has an upper hand. However there is one sweet spot that I am way ahead over him.
On this particular area, the margin keeps widening. In fact the margin is so big that I have got him trailing several miles behind.
I know my niche, I understand my business and I am passionate and love running my business, just give me a functional computer and a good Html editing software and I will know how to effectively communicate and deliver great content that my targeted visitors are searching for. John, he doesn't know how to do that yet.
The main lesson from this illustration is simple; before you even make that first move to build a web site decide first how you are going to go about building it. Are you going to do it yourself, would you use one of those WYSIWYG editing software or are you going to employ a web designer to do that for you.
